Blohm & Voss BV 141

[WW II German tactical reconnaissance aircraft with structural asymmetry]

Features:

  • Perfectly level flying despite structural asymmetry
  • Custom crew gondola, custom interior (basic, but accurate), working controls
  • Custom wings, custom flaps, ailerons, elevators, rudder, trim-tabs
  • Landing gear system with suspension, doors, housing
  • Matching SPECS/BLUEPRINTS
  • 399 parts only

Controls:

  • VTOL FLAPS (AIRBRAKES)
  • TRIM TRIMMING
  • 1-2-3 GUNS
  • 8 LIGHTS ON/OFF

Specs/Blueprint match > SP vs Wiki

  • nose cone is undersized, right elevator tip, pitot tube position

Extra:

  • Tired/bored of swastika, this is one of my favorites planes, so i chose to kill the evil vibe on this one. Iron Cross is a compromise
  • Plane matches blueprints perfectly, except left landing gear position. Is impossible to make an asymmetric LG with an acceptable behavior on runaway.
  • Plane is a little nose heavy after takeoff (TRIM IT), but is perfectly stable/level at max speed (around 225mph at sea level).
  • Interior is basic, but accurate. Dummies have the right size for an arian (4.1 ft sitting). If you don't like them, just delete them, no impact on plane performance.
  • Bombs position is speculation, the real plane never had bombs/pylons installed (still, the bomb matches the AB-500 bomb specs)
  • This build low part count is possible with the new hollow fuselage, more useful part than i expected.

@Mtnmakoa it was experimental, a prototype has been build. Despite good results, it was never mass produced due some engine availability issue and existence of another recon plane.
There is a wiki link in description, you can get some info there.

Well it most certainly pays off! I wish I knew a third of what you do about flight dynamics, SP. building, xml modding, and patience :) @BogdanX

@Hyattorama thank you for the kind words. I am among the few dinosaurs who spend a lot of time on plane flight model.

Man your models are so great, I was wondering... Would be able to make a functional almost 1:1 F-35B? Or at least an F-35C?

Let’s see if we can hit 141 upvotes! Maybe that goal is too easy though haha.

In my opinion, the fact that you were able to build this model of such a funky, asymmetrical aircraft, and yet build it to handle so well, to fly so straight and true, and to be so well balanced, is a testament to your exemplary skill as a builder. And that’s to make no mention of the historical/performance accuracy (which I’m not qualified to comment on anyway), craftsmanship, refinement, creativity, attention to detail, or presentation. Very impressed, as always.

@Awsomur the last one was nice (despite poor wing technique), it was flying well, perfectly stable, but the drag update ruined it, got a auto-roll/yaw during flight and pitch.
    Thank you

I remember the first one of these you made. It was a great build and this one is even better. The patience the build that viewport (not to mention the rest): certainly takes dedication. Beautiful build and good performance.

@Vidal99977 that was the entire project idea.... to demonstrate the hollow fuselage impact on part count and, obviously, performance.
To be honest, i was curious about the view from inside the cabine
How it runs and how do you like flying the plane?
