9K31"Strela-1" / SA-9 "Gaskin"

REPOST:
Improved off-road and amphibious performance
Slower acceleration, less engine power, belly wheels more efficient
360 degree lock angle, less effective missiles
Cockpit moved from turret on main body

[Mobile, short-range, low altitude IR guided surface-to-air missile system]
Also known by its NATO reporting name, SA-9 "Gaskin", the system consists of a BRDM-2 amphibious vehicle, mounting two pairs of ready-to-fire 9M31 missiles.

Controls:

Features:

Info:
- This is not an off-road god mode fun this time, i tried (for the sake of realism) to make the vehicle handling plausible. Max speed (65mph) is for tarmac, not off-road
- Even if belly wheels are not installed on SAM variant, they are a cool BRDM-2 feature. You can use them for extra grip on ramps, if you get stuck or better off-road performance.
- Missiles are not overpowered, just a bit better than stock parts. Missile lockAngle is 360, but still you have to adjust the turret for an efficient missile launch. SA-9 is not efficient against 1+ mach targets
- Deactivating the missiles system (Ag-1) resets the turret to initial position
- You can enter water NOW at high speed or steep angles on any axis.

Replica:
- Acceleration is normal now, it needs 9-10 seconds to get to 60 mph.
- Water speed is a bit higher than default 6 mph speed (too boring). Land speed matches the real thing (100km/65mph).
- Width, Length and Height are 0.5ft, 1ft and 0.5ft larger than real thing. (still suspension squeezes on deploy and vehicle is at right height on road)

FINALLY! A replica with spring strength and sag set appropriately. I've been trying to educate people on this for too long now

Oh ok thanks for the help

@SuperSix i use a propeller for amphibious movement, but only for visual. A vtol engine (is visible on one side) actually moves through water and some nozzles (the red points in front of vehicle, under shield) steer the vehicles

What do you use to propel it through the water

@EternalDarkness still, i found blueprints with the lowered belly wheels not touching the ground
    Alternative blueprint
It seems the height can be adjusted on same variant...
Anyway, in this case, since i reduced the engine power for slower acceleration, the vehicle cannot climb steep ramps, so the belly wheels help a lot with that. So i need them to touch the ground for vehicle to be more fun and versatile

@EternalDarkness well, i've checked the blueprints and the belly wheels are at same level when lowered.
Check this. If they would not touch the ground, even vehicle sunk in the mod, they won't provide too much traction, cause they are flat, not tractor type.
To be honest, they don't even exist on Strela/SA-9 variant, but they are a cool feature.

Now that's more like it. Not quite perfect, but, considering you are usually not a vehicle guy, very nice. Much better suspension. Only thing remaining are the extendable wheels. They go too far down. They are supposed to barely touch the road, sometimes not even touching it at all. They provide better traction if the vehicle is sinking in the mud or crossing an obstacle like an embankment.

Don't worry, I tested it on an AI plane and the convoy. Both went down pretty quickly. (There's only surface to air missiles, so I kinda had to kamikazi into one of the convoy trucks XD)

@Dllama4 I wasn't happy with suspension, so i tweaked it a little, moved the COM lower. Also floating was problematic on some abrupt water entries. And cockpit on turret was causing some weird moving effect
