PANAVIA TORNADO GR4

[Twin-engine, variable-sweep wing multirole combat aircraft]

       Thank you Mod for testing/feedback.

Improved model, better thrust reversal mechanics, issues fixed

(Green variant IDS cancelled)

Controls:
VTOL UP Wing sweep
VTOL DOWN Flaps
1 Speed Brakes
3 Fuel Probe
8 Reverse Thrusters (PowerBack)
5-6-7 Eject Ordinance

Features:

  • Stable at max speed at sea level (700/870 mph)
  • Different flight characteristics on wings position (default position> Higher turn rate, normal speed. Extended position> Poor turn rate, max speed)
  • Custom Wings, Landing Gear, Accurate weapons characteristics, Blueprints etc.
  • Matches specifications (size, height, fuel capacity, speed/acceleration etc.)
  • Painful build. Most complicated model I ever made. There are a ton of hinges/rotator/pistons.
  • Reverse thrusters work like they should, on the runaway, but they make the plane go in reverse during taxi. That function is called PowerBack. Be sure you deactivate them when the plane stops. If you use it for taxi, to go reverse into a spot, don't have them active more than several seconds, or you'll gain speed in the wrong way. Just press 8, wait a bit to start moving, press 8 again and brake.
Sadly, cannot make reverse thrusters based exclusively on throttle because Brake key kills the engine power. So when people brake normally on runaway, no more RT.

LANDING: Go around 10-20% Throttle. Activate SpeedBrakes (1) Around 200 mph lower the flaps/slats (VTOL down). Touch down at 150 - 180mph. Activate reverse thrusters (8) and spoilers/wheel brakes (B). Plane will stop. Deactivate reverse thrusters.

Yeah, STOL planes were what I was referencing lol @BogdanX

But they were for challenges... or have there been ones recently? Also removing planes doesn’t have you less points. I’m pretty sure you’ve had like 4 or 5 planes that you’ve removed before that had features already @BogdanX

@jamesPLANESii better late, than never. There is no written rule for featuring. There were platinum features before, pay attention. Also, still i have no featured planes in my posts list, this one is just right.

@Chancey21 Maybe super STOL planes. Not the ones with tons of weapons. And full of fuel. (There are exceptions, but those are helped by catapults or rockets for quick takeoff.

A lot of planes are supposed to go in the air in four seconds @Awsomur

@marcox43 yep, if you look at the side generated blueprint, you'll see that vertical stabilizer is almost half the length of the plane.
I got the length right, 54.4 ft (real thing has 54.1ft because a shorter pitot tube).
I was thinking to make an IDS variant, which is longer and better, but couldn't find a proper cutaway.
Also there is a mess with the guns, some variants have 2, other 1 and some none.

I've never flown a tornado in any simulator before, so I'm quite surprised by this aircraft's performance. the size too is rather small compared to other twin engine arcrafts, like the F-14 or so, that's surprising.

Looks great and functions very well. I also like that you have a realistic takeoff speed. A lot of planes here go up in the air in 4 seconds, but this one is very life-like. Awesome plane.
