5th Gen Cockpit (With head tracking lock-on)

by   60.9k Sarpanitu  1.1 years ago

This cockpit was designed to give the pilot an advantage via vision tracking missile lock-on while having enough detail to remain immersive with a low enough part count to remain functional. I believe it has a healthy balance and will compliment jet fighter builds. To install the cockpit on an existing creation, make the creation a subassembly, download the cockpit and drag your creation into place. Alternatively you can build with this cockpit as the main starting point. (CAREFUL NOT TO CLIP THROUGH OR MIRROR THE COCKPIT) AG8 to disable head movement.

@Kevinairlines moving parts are collisions disabled. If you're using another canopy, just be sure to connect it outside of the assembly and use fine tuner to shift it into place.

Hey man, I just want to let you know your cockpit has a pretty cool function when crashed... especially when explosives are involved... check out my creation to see how....

Read down into the comments and I've given scaling advice to others already, it's fairly straight forward. If you have trouble just tag me in where you're at and I can help out when I find the time.

@Sarpanitu that scale thing worked perfectly, can't believe I didn't try it. Thank you once again.

The key is shifting the first attachment point out of position by a distance you can be sure to remember, 1,2,3 whatever's required to be free and clear of accidental connections. Build the whole joystick, gauge, lever or whatever and move the whole thing back by the same amount on the same axis. It's pretty simple once you get going. Also disableAircraftCollisions if it's inside of other stuff. Only time this becomes difficult is with symmetric moving parts where you have to basically do the same but have the base piece shifted outside the build opposite to start with, then mirror the completed opposite side part and shift it all back in.

@mikoyanster all done on a larger scale with no weight modifications done until the final scale down. Extreme care was taken to isolate moving parts by shifting them out of the cockpit, creating the function and then shifting back into place.
