5th Gen Cockpit (With head tracking lock-on)

by   49.2k Sarpanitu  6 days ago

This cockpit was designed to give the pilot an advantage via vision tracking missile lock-on while having enough detail to remain immersive with a low enough part count to remain functional. I believe it has a healthy balance and will compliment jet fighter builds. To install the cockpit on an existing creation, make the creation a subassembly, download the cockpit and drag your creation into place. Alternatively you can build with this cockpit as the main starting point. (CAREFUL NOT TO CLIP THROUGH OR MIRROR THE COCKPIT) AG8 to disable head movement.

this thing is great just like the one out of the je tyou made although it needs a feature to turn the head movement on/off because sometimes its moving when I need it to not and also it still has the shaking problem when pitching hard other then that its awesome

Read down into the comments and I've given scaling advice to others already, it's fairly straight forward. If you have trouble just tag me in where you're at and I can help out when I find the time.

@Sarpanitu that scale thing worked perfectly, can't believe I didn't try it. Thank you once again.

The key is shifting the first attachment point out of position by a distance you can be sure to remember, 1,2,3 whatever's required to be free and clear of accidental connections. Build the whole joystick, gauge, lever or whatever and move the whole thing back by the same amount on the same axis. It's pretty simple once you get going. Also disableAircraftCollisions if it's inside of other stuff. Only time this becomes difficult is with symmetric moving parts where you have to basically do the same but have the base piece shifted outside the build opposite to start with, then mirror the completed opposite side part and shift it all back in.

@Sarpanitu its difficult i recognize it

@mikoyanster all done on a larger scale with no weight modifications done until the final scale down. Extreme care was taken to isolate moving parts by shifting them out of the cockpit, creating the function and then shifting back into place.

@Sarpanitu how do you get attach so small parts?

My first cockpit was part by part via xml and fine tuner placement... ugh. Now with fine tuner you can unclick 'scale selected part only' and the whole project will scale down.

@Sarpanitu does that mean you can scale the whole construction at once? Or you have to shrink it part by part?

@Noahater435 that's basically what this is for. I have several cockpits released already for the community to make their own creations with. I think it adds and extra factor of immersion that this game kind of lacks not being in a cockpit when you go to cockpit view.

@iwannabeelected I use overload and fine tuner. I make A mock up about 4 times the end size or more realistically actual cockpit size then use fine tuner to scale the entire project by 25% and fine tuner again to place the canopy.

@JoddyFubuki788 any smaller and you risk self destruction because the strrngth of the parts is determined by their massScale you could perhaps try scaling down without calculating mass. If you don't have find tuner then let me know I can try myself when I'm home from physio.
