A/SF-01 B-Wing
S&K A/SF-01 B-wing Heavy Starfighter
Designed by the Mon Calamari Quarrie in top secret, and later manufactured by Slayn & Korpil, the B-wing assault starfighter was a revolutionary fighter that saw use throughout most of the Galactic Civil War. Though slower than the X-wing and even the Y-wing, the B-wing packed an extreme punch, being the most heavily armed fighter in Rebel service. Used in coordination with more agile escort craft, B-wings were excellent blockade busters, and could take down an Imperial ISD fairly easily. The ship's complicated weapons system and less-than predictable flight characteristics meant that only top Rebel pilots were allowed to fly it. Despite this, countless aces were made behind the controls of this beast of a ship, which played a significant role in the downfall of the Empire.
Controls
- AG 2: Landing/Takeoff Gyro - 9-10% throttle for landing
- AG 3: Forward thrust when on, auto-brakes and landing position when off
- AG 4: Lock S-Foils in attack position, blade wing in horizontal orientation
- AG 5: Rotate blade wing to vertical position
- AG 6: Extra boost (unrealistic for this craft, but I figured people would want a starfighter to go a bit faster sometimes
Craft Notes
Building this one sure was interesting, the odd shape definitely gave me some troubles early on, however I'm very proud of the final result. I can say with confidence that this is the most accurate and best flying B-wing on the site, so far. You'll get some odd yaw when transitioning from vertical to forward flight, but after that, the B-wing flies beautifully. It's also my most mobile friendly Star Wars build, so that's nice. The B-wing is also one of my favorite Star Wars fighters, just because of it's unique look. However I did find it hard to photograph well, and am not proud at all with the presentation of this, but it is what it is, ya know? Idk how this'll be recieved by the community, being such an interesting, to say the least, ship, so tell me what you think!

There’s actually a countermeasure where the wings could rotate around the cockpit. Here’s a link to a complete breakdown of the B-wing:

could use help testing and tuning an aircraft

@MetaRunner yep. They're rarely seen on screen, so it's somewhat less known than its counterparts in the Rebellion. The cockpit is actually supposed to always orient upright with the horizon, but that actually makes it harder to dogfight with, so I made it have 2 built in positions, vertical and horizontal
@117 you bet
What does AG1 do
I am still confused on how this B-wing flies.Heck my Smart Brain cells are dying
@Zuko Ok thank you
@Hellfire3627 9% throttle should be perfect for landing. That'll put you in a slow descent. Around 10% should be hover
Great Craft, But landing is very hard
@YanTingChen thanks! It flies because the only part of the craft that has weight or drag is the cockpit pod
I always don't understand how does it fly, but it is cool.
More... MORE!
@Darjeelings183 @BoiBoicleetus69 thanks!
This will make a fine addition to my collection
Really good work!
Awesome!
@Brendorkus very true
@OC3LOT1142 @LastManStanding thanks!
@ChrisPy it definitely was at at times
You should have said “Behold, the most inefficient design philosophy in the galaxy!”
Bruuuhhhhh this must have been real hard to make
Cool!
Nice!
@asteroidbook345 lol yeah it is pretty funny how trekkies have their photon torpedoes and star wars has its proton torpedoes, and thanks, glad you like it!
@Gluck thanks!
Epic, great job!
gotcha, thanks
