Meh-262 (generic early jet fighter)

120 Krikkit42  2 months ago

This isn't my first creation but the first one that I feel comfortable sharing with y'all.

That's for two reasons:

  1. It flies well and has no major hick-ups or instabilities

  2. It's pretty much as simple as it gets.

  3. All stock parts

The inspiration is clearly a late WW2-era Messerschmitt Me-262 (one of the earliest jet fighters to ever see combat) but a lot of the details are missing, obviously. However, the general concept is to have a simple plane (no kidding!?) that performs decently, is capable of both air and ground combat and looks somewhat unique. Hope this one checks the boxes. Always open for constructive criticism!

Cheers

@Mustang51 I agree. And thanks again, I will definitely take you up on that, eventually. :)

@Krikkit42 aircraft that are made of tubes are usually the easiest to make and by chance those aircraft are most of my favourites. If you look at my builds it’s usually tubular designs. If you ever need any help with tweaks or tips for your builds, feel free to ask!

@Mustang51 Good Point. Just after I replied to your comment I started looking at pictures and drawings of the Me-262 again and those were my thoughts exactly! The Meteor, now that might be a good idea!

@Krikkit42 I would go for something else before takeling the 262. The fuselage is a shape which isn’t easily fabricated in sp because of the limitations of shaping the fuselage blocks. If you like jets from this era I would go for maybe a meteor.

@Mustang51 Hey thanks, that’s very kind of you! And you’re definitely right about the engine placement. I noticed that only much later. In fact I didn’t even look at reference for this one and built it from memory ... which mostly relies on an old Revell model kit that I built as a child. I guess halfway through I kinda abandoned wanting to make a replica and focused more on „flyability“. ;-) But who knows ... a more proper replica might come some time soon.

Not too bad! Like you said there are differences between this and the 262 (engine placement mostly) but it does look very much like what an early generation jet fighter would look like. I also enjoy building these early generation jets. For your first upload though this is great! Very fun aircraft!
