What does the website look like as a moderator?

17.5k L3FT2R1GHT  15 days ago

I assume there would be some mod-only things, and reporting a post would appear as a notification, but if an actual mod could provide a screenshot, or a few, that would be useful.

It would be if the user is trying to make it so the mods cannot see the post. Mods have a record of all a persons removed posts. (Removed by mods) a used could be trying not to get anything else in that list.

@TheMouse From what I know the undeleting would probably be unintentional. I don't really know the actual answer to that question though since I can't see what a mod sees.

If a user deletes a post, then they want it to be deleted. If a moderator removes a post (note I said removed), then they want it to be removed. I don't see a reason where a user would want a post deleted and a moderator actively wants it to not be deleted.

    @Graingy @PlaneFlightX
They would probably do it if someone removed a post to try and get out of trouble. Say some paper rank posts a link to porn in a new forum (which is not as rare as I wish it was) and then someone comments below “report, do not click the link”. Now, if the paper rank is smart, they will know the mods are now “out to get them” so they would intuitively remove the post themselves, to avoid punishment.
    Anyway, just my guess.

Update @TheMouse, I asked a moderator and they said yes, they can. For example, if a user uploads a post, another user reports it, and the original user then deletes it, the moderator can see the post in the mod queue. The moderator can then un-delete the post by clicking approve.

@TheMouse I don't know that one unfortunately. One could argue that a user-deleted post is permanently deleted due to data privacy requirements, however comments sent to those posts are still public so I don't know.

@TheMouse From my knowledge (I have sources), IP banning can only be done by the developers themselves, but everything looks right. Additionally, I remember a mod mentioning they accidentally used a different delete option, which is the same as us clicking delete post (permanently removes post).

I believe they can also see removed comments, as well as the edit history, per comment (e.g. if I edited this comment, a moderator can see both versions). There's also probably a few other functions that are kept secret by the moderators.

However, here is a list of their privileges:
-Removing posts (different than normal deletion)
-Deleting posts (same as normal deletion)
    -Featuring posts
    -Giving strikes
    -Pinning forum posts
-Banning accounts (both temporary and permanent)
-IP banning accounts (permanent and instantly bans any alts) (may only be for devs)
-Editing posts, comments and bio posts made by other users (the same way as those users do)
-Viewing unlisted posts on people's profiles, and removing such posts if they break the rules.
    -Deleting biographies
-Removing points that users gained from deleted posts
-Viewing comment edit history, and removed comments.
-Undeleting posts that you have deleted.

Yup, not gonna happen. A screenshot was leaked a while back, and then everything was deleted. I assume the devs ask the mods to keep that kind of stuff hush hush. They dont want everyone knowing about stuff like that.
